Canal Crossing Shopping Center located in Brunswick, Georgia currently consists of over 270,000 sf. of anchor stores in the main shopping center, and contains well known retailers Sam’s Club, Hobby Lobby, Academy Sports and Home Goods. Additionally, there are 15 out-parcels on either side of Canal Road including out-lot E, which began construction in 2015 and includes tenants Aspen Dental and Mattress Firm. Aspen Dental, founded in 1998, currently has over 800 locations nationwide and continues to grow at an outstanding pace with one new location every four days. Mattress Firm, founded in 1986, with a vision of assisting customers on finding the perfect bed at an affordable price, has become the nation’s largest specialty mattress retailer with locations in 49 states. EMC Engineering Services, Inc. is proud to provide planning, design and construction phases services for several of the out parcels in the new Canal Crossing developments. New infrastructure to support the new developments include new roadways, widening roadways, traffic signal installations, utility (water, sewer and force main) extensions, and regional stormwater drainage improvements. EMC was pleased to provide civil engineering, planning, and construction management including: assistance with permitting, assistance on bidding/negotiating phases with contractors, moderated bi-weekly meetings with government officials/utility representatives/roadway and site contractors/tenants and owners, provided in-depth construction administration/inspection services and project closeout documentation.
