Description:
Chehaw State Park, developed in 1937, is over 700 acres, includes a Zoo and sees a little over 100,000
visitors annually. This popular South Georgia attraction has kept expanding and EMC Engineering was
pleased to provide engineering services for the new restroom facilities for Chehaw Park’s primitive camping sites. This particular project required topographical and as-built surveying; preparation of flood
certificate; site engineering, which involved site construction drawings such as, cover, general notes and
legend/typical section, topographic survey plan, site plan (including dimensions), paving/grading/drainage plan, utilities plan (water/sewer), erosion sediment/control plan, sanitary septic plan, preparation/submittal of site development plans to relevant local/state review agencies, development of normal designs, calculations, computations, details and specifications required for regulatory approval; septic design in accordance with state/local regulations; preparation of Level III Soil Survey; permitting with preparation of forms, documents and anticipated filings required in the course of permit approvals from local/state government agencies; construction phase services that involved attending meetings and conferences, responding to RFIs as requested, review of contractor submittals and prepare change orders as required, and periodic construction observation to ensure Contractor’s work is in general compliance with the contract documents.
