Description:
Fort Gordon, established in 1941 as a World War II training camp, is located southwest of Augusta, Georgia. Becoming a permanent Army installation in 1956, Fort Gordon is home to Cyber Command, as well as housing the U.S. Signal Corps, which is responsible for providing and maintaining information systems and communication networks. As with all military bases, infrastructure improvements are necessary, in this case, adequate pedestrian infrastructure and parking facility improvements were needed. The project consisted of constructing new sidewalks, curb/gutters, handicap ramps, crosswalks, minor intersection improvements, block retaining wall reconstruction, motorcycle and handicap parking, and service vehicles parking area. EMC was pleased to provide the following services for this improvement project: existing conditions and topographic survey, construction staking, civil design, construction materials testing and construction administration.
