DESCRIPTION:
Georgia is known for its delicious peanuts. According to the Georgia Peanut Commission, in 2021 the state’s farmers produced 52% of the country’s peanuts, which is nearly 1.67 million tons. Georgia’s 4,000 plus peanut farmers can be found in at least 76 counties, harvesting their crops on approximately 750,000 acres, and yielding an average of 4,450 lbs. per acre. One thriving Georgia peanut company is Golden Peanut and Tree Nuts Company, which has been in business since the early 1950s.
With nearly 70 years experience of harvesting top-quality peanuts, as well as increased demand for their beloved nuts, Golden Peanut desired an additional warehouse that would be much larger than their current storage facility. EMC was pleased to provide planning, topographic and as-built surveys, civil engineering, foundation design, permitting, construction materials testing (CMT), and construction phase services, including NPDES monitoring for the construction of their new 10,000-ton 360’x80’ metal warehouse which included a 35’x60’ pit, a 12’x12’ dump pit with elevator well, a 70’ truck lift, and a 100-tph pit elevator located on approximately 4.7-acres in Register, Georgia.
