An Intricate Design Calls For An Out-Of-This-World Survey Team!
Thank you to Mr. Jim Steed of Steed’s Dairy Farm in Grovetown, Georgia for selecting EMC Engineering Services to collaborate with him on an amazing corn maze design to celebrate the Apollo 11 Moon Landing. Corn mazes are a very popular form of agritourism and a great option to keep family farms sustainable.
The EMC Augusta Survey Team turned Mr. Steed’s hand sketched design into a computer- generated maze staking plan by using the latest surveying software. The EMC team then utilized these computer-generated plans to stake out the field with conventional survey and GPS equipment, helping with precise staking and preventing damage to the cornstalks as the appropriate point numbers were placed on the stakes. This process assists Mr. Steed to easily cut a path out of the cornfield by cutting from point to point, which allows the corn to continue to grow in the desired maze configuration. EMC is proud to have collaborated with Mr. Steed on several corn maze designs over the years and looks forward to future creative designs for many more years to come.
