Description:
Chatham Parkway is a minor arterial which provides north-south connectivity of Highway 80, Interstate 16, Highway 17, and Veterans Parkway in Chatham County Georgia. Areas surrounding this roadway have experienced continued commercial, retail, and residential growth over the past few years. EMC was retained to provide master planning and site development services for a 8.4-acre site located at the southwestern intersection of Chatham Parkway and Highway 17. The site was divided into six commercial/retail parcels with supporting roadways and infrastructure extensions.
As part of the larger project, a 2.2-acre parcel was developed as a 17,600-sf commercial warehouse facility to house a Sherwin-Williams painting supply store and a future use/tenant space. Sherwin-Williams, known for their high quality coatings and products that provide affordable solutions, has become the largest coatings manufacturer in the U.S. With 5,000 plus locations operating in over 120 countries, Sherwin-Williams continues to add additional locations to increase access to their products and services. EMC was pleased to provided planning, survey, civil design, and construction phase services for the construction of this 17,600-sf warehouse with two raised semi- truck loading docks, 3 raised single unit truck loading docks, and a single on-grade service door. The site consists of a 40-space parking lot capable for commercial truck maneuverability, internal and external sidewalks, three bio- retention ponds, and landscaping including over sixteen varieties of trees, bushes, and ground covers. Permitting requirements included the US Army Corps of Engineers, Georgia Environmental Protection Division, Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission, City of Savannah, and Chatham County.
