Description
Sherwood Acres Elementary School, located in Albany, Georgia, provides GNETS programs (Georgia Network for Educational and Therapeutic Support) to children in grades K-5. GNETS, comprised of 24 programs, supports local school systems’ continuum of services for students with disabilities, ages 5-21. The program provides comprehensive, educational and therapeutic support services to students who might otherwise require residential or other more restrictive placements, due to the severity of one or more of the characteristics of the disability category of emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD). With growing enrollment, renovations and additions were needed. EMC Engineering Services, Inc. provided site development plan modifications, permitting and construction phase services for 10.02 acres. Modification of site construction drawings included: cover, general notes and legend/typical section, existing condition/demolition plan, site plan (including dimensions), paving, grading and drainage plan, utilities plan (water/sewer), three phase erosion sediment and pollution control plans, sanitary/sewer profiles, landscape plan, construction details, and development of normal designs, calculations, computations, details and specifications required for regulatory approval. Permitting involved submittal of site development plans to relevant local/state review agencies and preparation of forms, documents, and anticipated filings required in the course of permit approvals from local/or state government agencies. Construction phase services consisted of attending conferences and meetings, responding to RFIs and other construction related questions, as well as construction observation to ensure work is in general compliance with the contract documents (as needed).
