The long awaited William Few Parkway Extension project in Columbia County began construction in August 2013. The project is a 1.6-mile-long roadway extension beginning at Washington Road and continuing north and east to Hardy McManus Road. Improvements will include a three-lane section with 14-foot-wide flush center median, side ditches, a bridge over Euchee Creek, a signalized intersection at Riverwood Parkway and the addition of turn lanes at all roadway intersections.
EMC Engineering Services, Inc. has worked with the Georgia Department of Transportation, Columbia County and Southern Partners in the design and detailing of the roadway portion of the project. Services included preparation of a survey database drawings, construction plans, and right of way plans in CAiCE and Microstation. Construction plans included paving, grading, drainage, signing and marking, and erosion and sedimentation control. Right-of-way plans were prepared for approximately 22 parcels, identifying limits and areas of rights-of-way, and temporary and permanent easements.
